Throughout his career as a painter, Kateřina Štenclová has systematically and almost exclusively devoted himself to abstract painting.
His main means of expression are colour, the relationship between geometric and organic surfaces, the painter’s gesture, the form of the support and the possibility of installation of the pictorial works.

The exhibition at the U. Bílého Jednorožce Gallery in Klatovy is not a classic chronological retrospective of the painter, but an illustrative overview of the subjects, principles and methods present in her work since the end of the 1980s. These include the exploration of colour, monochromy, the superimposition of the motif and the image itself, the confrontation of random structures and reflective constructions.
The work of Kateřina Štenclová is marked by remarkable continuity and cyclical returns of certain formal responses. Thus, in each thematic section of the exhibition one can find works that are separated by decades. And yet they immediately unite in a reciprocal dialogue.
